THE NORTHERN LAKES

The northern lakes have always been a popular tourist destination for both Italian and foreign tourists.

Most of them can be found among the Alps in the north of Italy.

The northern lakes have been a famous toursit destination since Roman times.

The main lakes are: Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore and Lake Como.


Lake Garda, the largest alpine lake, is located among Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino. The lake's coastline offers a wide variety of stunning views.

Lake Maggiore streches out along the border between Italy and Switzerland. It boasts Borremeo Gulf and three splendid islets: Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre which attract a lot of tourists.
